Nym is a decentralised, incentivised privacy system that protects communication patterns, IP addresses and metadata. Nym solves a large-scale problem of the internet: that traffic patterns are visible to anyone observing the network.
I work with a fantastic team of about 50 people all over the world, making this system operable. The mixnet ensures that the patterns of communications remain private, as they should be. At present, the default of internet protocols leaves patterns of comunication entirely exposed. Even when content is encrypted, these patterns reveal sensitive information about people, infrastructure and society, to whoever has the power to observe the network.
